The Hong Kong rugby community were provided with a fantastic day of Sevens action at the Hong Kong Stadium on Saturday, December 10th. From the Minis, Colts and Tertiary in the morning right through to the Securicor Union Sevens in the afternoon it was non-stop rugby action. In the 1st Division the DeA Tigers came out on top and took home the Securicor Cup, overcoming Synovate HKCC in the final. It capped off a successful day for the Tigers, as they dominated proceedings, winning the 1st, 4th, 5th and Women's finals. The other victorious teams on the day were CBRE Club Scorpions and Tanner De Witt Nomads, who took out the titles in Division 2 and 3 respectively.
Along side the rugby, the public ticket sale for the Cathay Pacific / Credit Suisse Hong Kong Sevens 2006 was a great success, with sales considerably exceeding last year's Rugby World Cup take-up.
"We wanted all Hong Kong Sevens supporters to get a fair chance to purchase their tickets, and were very pleased at the friendly manner in which the sales were conducted, overall the day was a resounding success. All child tickets were sold and we have less than 1,000 adult tickets remaining. With the tournament being more than three months away, it is shaping up to be one of the biggest Sevens to date" said HKRFU Executive Director, Allan Payne.
A public ticket sale is held in in conjunction with a Sevens Festival at the Hong Kong Stadium on December 10, 2006. After a full audit of all remaining tickets including any overseas returns, all child tickets were sold and it is expected that a limited amount of adult tickets will be available for sale to the public in the New Year. Full details of the sale of any remaining tickets will be made available in the press and on both the HKRFU and Cathay Pacific/Credit Suisse Hong Kong Sevens 2006 websites.
