A stopover in Macau, their former colony, on their way to Hong Kong seems to work wonders for Portugal who have been impressive ever since they made their debut in 1994. Three years ago, Portugal collected their first silverware in Hong Kong, winning the Bowl. Los Lobos excelled last year, storming into the Cup competition with superb wins over France and South Korea. But New Zealand was a bridge too far in the Cup quarterfinals for Portugal, who then lost to South Africa in the Plate semi-finals. Yet, their performance proved that they are a dangerous side more than capable of pulling off wins over the fancied sides.
