Olympic status has given the game a massive boost in the country and the results are already plain to see with Russia coming within a whisker of knocking out England in the Cup quarterfinals last year, narrowly losing 10-7. Russia won the Bowl in 2007 and 2008 and has frequently excelled at the Hong Kong Stadium. With rugby now part of the school curriculum, the game is set to take off even more as Russia eye glory at the 2016 Olympics.
